Is Hunter x Hunter 1999 the same as 2011? Hunter × Hunter is quite a large series which has an anime starting in 1999 and one starting in 2011. The latter is longer (currently at 80 episodes versus 62 from the original), and is said to follow the manga more faithfully.
they sound the same as the 1999 series (im referring here to the local dub) almost all of them.i still remember them since the reruns weren't that long ago. the voices of alot of minor character sounds familiar.Kurapica, Gon, and Killua retained their VA(although Killua was voiced by the one that voiced him in the GI ova ,still its nice .the same happened for Hisoka's voice for the 2011series
Although not many people ask for 1999 songs, I thought I'd do both series anyway. I will try to include all official songs made for Hunter x Hunter, be it some promotional song or from the OST. I will also try to find the original music video if possible, but sound quality is priority here.
Kurapika is a member of the Kurta tribe who were massacred by the Phantom Troupe (The Spiders) 4 years prior the Hunter exam. The Kurta tribe was an isolated group of people whose eyes would turn scarlet when angered or excited. These scarlet eyes were known to be beautiful, being one of the seven most beautiful in the world.
Madhouse's 2011 adaptation was met with near-universal critical acclaim. Adrian Marcano from Inverse considered Hunter x Hunter 2011 to be one of the greatest anime series ever. He said that the anime set itself apart with one of the greatest story arcs in anime history in which the villain, not the hero, takes the anime to instant classic status.
Even if we got news of a dub in production tomorrow, it would still be many months if not years until you could binge watch the whole thing. The 1999 anime stops right before the Chimera Arc, which is right after the Greed Island Arc. It's a good show, but if you're new the the anime just go with the 2011 one.

HUNTER x HUNTER VERSUS - 1999/2011:
Most generally agree that the 2011 anime is superior. The 2011 one is what’s on Netflix. Episode list (obviously don't read descriptions if you don't want spoilers). The Chimera Ant arc starts at episode 76. If you become a huge fan of HxH then the 1999 version is worth checking out.
